League of Women Voters Voter Education Program

The Greenville County  League of Women Voters will present a voter education program "Why don't more people run for political office?"  to be held Thursday  April 20th  at 6:30 pm at the Main Library downtown Greenville. Speakers are Representative Chandra Dillard and Water Commissioner Deb Sofield (women in politics), the Progressive Network (redistricting) and the League of Women Voters (money in politics).  This event is free and open to the public.

We will have tables set up for "action": draft legislation for an independent commission to draw district lines, voter registration,  draft ethics legislation on dark money, how to be a "rapid advocacy responder " and finally a place for each participate to answer the question," Why don't you run for political office"?  We will report out the results at the end of the program.  Contact: kempeka@yahoo.com  or lwvgreenvilleco@gmail.com  for questions.

A Better Life--Knowing The Immigrant Reality

Join From the Ground Up for an educational series of movie forums set with the purpose of helping the community in general to understand better the complex issue of immigration, and why Hispanic Immigrants are looking for a better life in the United States. There will be a community discussion after the movie. Snacks will be served.

Science Not Silence! Join the Greenville branch of the nationally planned rallies in support of Science and against the Trump administrations blindly ignorant stance on climate change (among many other science related issues. Main stage speakers and opportunities to interact with scientists and science communicators from several fields as they share the value and impact of their research.
